B: Big Bend National Park is the fourteenth largest park in the United States, encompassing 801,163 acres. Driving through this geologic wonderland, we experienced stark elevation changes from flatland prairies to steep volcanic cliffs. The Chios Basin Campground is actually located in the center of an extinct volcano deep in the heart of the park. Hiking trails of all experience levels and distances branch outwards, making it the center of many park ... View the Post
West Texas Weekend: Big Bend Hike
K: After our first night of camping with friends, Brandon and I set out for a hike on the Santa Elena trail. In my opinion, this is the most scenic trail in all of Big Bend. We went last year and I knew that we'd have to take our friends this time around so that they could enjoy the jaw-dropping views of this slot canyon. It's a fairly short hike (about an hour and a half) and it did not disappoint the second time around. B: I am a true Texas boy, loving all aspects of the state, including ... View the Post
West Texas Weekend: Alpine
B: Alpine, Texas is one of those towns that you walk in about fifteen minutes. It didn't take Katherine and I long to discover what the small Texas town had to offer. K: The wind was absolutely crazy the day that we stopped in Alpine. I'm thankful that I brought my hat to keep my hair (mostly) in place. While we ... View the Post
West Texas Weekend: The Gage Hotel
B: I first visited the Gage Hotel in the Spring of 2015 for a work sponsored course. The March timeframe brought about a chilly spell accompanied with continuous misty rain. Nonetheless, I fell in love with late 1800's inspired rustic appeal and architecture of The Gage Hotel complex that encompasses the entire town of Marathon. The most appealing aspect to this luxurious hotel for me was the way that the rain sounded falling on the tin roof all night.B: I was looking for buffalo-style plaid ... View the Post

Our Mexico Honeymoon
Brandon and I spent our honeymoon in Mexico City and the central hills of San Miguel de Allende. Our intention was to swap the normalities of a stereotypical honeymoon for a romanticized adventure. Unique hotels, fine dining, and a heavy dose of culture was the overall goal of the trip and we returned home to San Antonio feeling accomplished.Ornate Catholic cathedrals, Mayan stone carvings, and Latin American influence dominated the birthplace of Mexico, leaving Brandon and I stunned with the ...
