B: Just East of Fredericksburg, Texas lies the conservatory of Wild Seed Farms. This farm the combination of a flower nursery, winery, and ecological safe haven to beautifully blooming wildflowers and plant varieties native to the state of Texas. Katherine and I made this stop a necessity in our exploratory tour of Fredericksburg not only for the raw beauty of the flower blooms, but also to witness the rich agricultural background of this up-and-coming tourist town. Fredericksburg Vineyards
K: If you are from Texas, you have probably heard of the wine country that is Fredericksburg. This charming city offers adorable bed and breakfast hotels, fabulous shopping, and true Texas wine from vineyards located just outside of the town. Brandon and I took a day trip from San Antonio and spent some time sampling the local wine flavors of Grape Creek Vineyard. B: Everyone has their own personal preferences when it comes to wine. I personally do not drink wine often, but when I do, ... View the Post
An Afternoon in Port Aransas
B: Iconic to beach towns everywhere are touristy souvenir shops selling everything beach related that you could possibly imagine. If you have been to Port Aransas, Texas, you will know that there are three large sharks in front of souvenir shops used to draw you in. West Texas Weekend: Alpine
B: Alpine, Texas is one of those towns that you walk in about fifteen minutes. It didn't take Katherine and I long to discover what the small Texas town had to offer. We stopped on our way to Marfa (check out our blog post here) and made it our mission to see the colorful buildings, painted murals, and West Texas flair that Alpine had to offer. K: The wind was absolutely crazy the day that we stopped in Alpine. I'm thankful that I brought my hat to keep my hair (mostly) in place. While we ... View the Post
West Texas Weekend: Marfa
B: Marfa is the most modernized rural town I have laid eyes upon. Venture capitalists from New York City took this town by storm several years back by pumping in vast quantities of money, infrastructure, and oodles of art. This city contains numerous recent boutique hotel builds, yuppy hangouts, and open contemporary homes that rival a Restoration Hardware ad campaign. The Marfa art community is vast and deep, with modern art displays that are slightly too contemporary for my understanding of ... View the Post
West Texas Weekend: The Gage Hotel
B: I first visited the Gage Hotel in the Spring of 2015 for a work sponsored course. The March timeframe brought about a chilly spell accompanied with continuous misty rain. Nonetheless, I fell in love with late 1800's inspired rustic appeal and architecture of The Gage Hotel complex that encompasses the entire town of Marathon. The most appealing aspect to this luxurious hotel for me was the way that the rain sounded falling on the tin roof all night.B: I was looking for buffalo-style plaid ... View the Post
