1. How did you meet?
Brandon and I developed a full post with the story of how we met. You can see it right here. It’s a pretty great story that involves a double date and our younger siblings.
2. How long have you been married?
We were married on December 11, 2016, so almost two years! You can see our wedding pictures here and wedding video here.
3. Do you guys take your own photos? How?
We do a little mixture of everything! These photos were taken by Lauren Bosse Photography and she’s helped us out several times (cannot recommend her enough, especially if you are in the Fredericksburg area). My mom also takes photos of us frequently, especially if it’s somewhere in San Antonio/close by. Above all, we use our trusty tripod and self timer to capture many of the shots you see (and always when traveling). Brandon is the pro here and I completely rely upon him for photos!!
4. What kind of camera/editing software do you use?
We use a Canon 60D camera and edit all photos with Lightroom. We also have a few purchased presets that we sometimes use to brighten photos or make colors pop.
5. How long have you been blogging?
We started the blog in February, 2017 (you can see our very first post right here, even if it is quite laughable). The summer of 2017 was a big time for growth because I was able to really focus on the blog, almost as a full time job. We love blogging together and it’s been such a great way to document our marriage and our lives together. I think of it as a digital scrapbook! We definitely plan on continuing in the future years and as we grow a family.
6. What do you both do as your career?
I am a teacher (12th grade English) and Brandon is a geologist. I’ve documented my full day as a teacher here and also my thoughts on being in the classroom. Each day looks different for Brandon but we both love the stability and routine of a full time job. Blogging is our creative outlet on weekends and a way for us get out of the house and explore!
7. Do you have any advice for someone who works full time but still wants to blog?
My biggest piece of advice would be to find a schedule and stick to it. We post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with no exceptions, except for holidays. Additionally, I work on the blog from 5:30 AM to 6:30, and then I work on it when I’m home from school and into the evening as well. Weekends are my time to shoot and edit photos, write, catch up on emails, and other necessities. By sticking to this schedule, I’ve found that I can get a lot done and it’s very systematic. I also utilize a planning calendar so that when the next month hits, I’ve got all my posts tentatively planned so I’m not searching for content ideas or scrambling to create a post. We try to shoot outfits and content at least a week in advance. I’m not a last-minute kind of person and I’m always forcing Brandon to write his part way ahead of time! In the end, this has served us well and allows us to be organized. For us, this has been the only way to do it since we both work full time jobs outside of this platform.
8. What are your favorite places to shop for both guys and girls?
Without a doubt, Nordstrom is out all time favorite because of the free shipping/free return option and the huge variety that they offer. We also love Asos and find the most amazing deals there! H&M, J. Crew, Banana Republic, and of course, TJ Maxx are frequent stores that we shop at.
9. What are the best places to visit in San Antonio?
We did a San Antonio City Guide this summer! This post has everything outlined. We’re also doing a SA Itinerary post, coming this Friday!
10. How old is Tara? What kind of dog is she?
Tara is an English black lab and she is four years old. She is full grown and just under fifty pounds. Brandon trained her to retrieve birds during bird hunts and she is definitely built for that! We love her sweet personality and the joy she brings to us both.
Do you have any more questions for us? Leave a comment and let us know below! We’re hoping to add to this post and allow it to evolve over the years.
