Baby Swain’s Nursery

I’m so excited to finally share Shepherd’s nursery! This sweet space has been in the works for a LONG time, and as someone who loves design, it was such a treat for me to see my vision come to life. I’ve linked all of the sources down at the very bottom, but wanted to discuss a few things in detail within the post. I’ve got a few more things that we plan on adding with time and age, so I’ll be sure to update this post with any new little touches over the next few months!

My first step was deciding upon a wallpaper. I was set on wallpaper very early on (before we were even pregnant), knowing that was going to be our one “splurge” for the room. I searched and searched, hoping for something that would work for either a boy or a girl, but something that felt special enough to justify the cost of wallpaper. So many of the gender neutral options just felt too basic for me and I also knew that I wanted a blue and white nursery, regardless of the gender. We finally settled upon this gorgeous crane print from Home Depot. The paper seemed elegant and classic, two words I’d already been using to describe my vision for the space. Wallpaper was the first step, and once it was installed, the entire room came to life and everything else just fell into place.

The crib is from Crate & Kids and is a classic Jenny Lind design. While we loved several options from Restoration Hardware, we opted for a more affordable piece since cribs are so temporary in the scheme of a child’s life. Ours also converts into a toddler bed, which will be great to extend its use. I had originally planned to order a glider from Pottery Barn, but couldn’t seem to justify the $1,000 price tag for something that I knew would get spit up all over it. Instead, we went with this one from Target for less than half the price. The final piece of furniture are these dressers, and what a story I have for those! I’d searched for a dresser and ultimately decided upon this one from HomeThreads because of the gold hardware and larger length. When it arrived, it was extremely damaged in areas with lots of little knicks. I contacted the company to see what they could do, and the owner was kind enough to call me back and immediately offered to send another one for free. He said to keep the old one or dispose of it. We were shocked! After cleaning the piece up, we decided to just put the dressers side by side for one long wall of storage. I never intended for the space to have two dressers, but now that we have them, the extra storage has been so nice!

Everything in the nursery is gender neutral and will be re-used for Baby #2. My goal was to let the wallpaper make the statement and keep everything else simple and sweet for a classic boy nursery. I plan on sharing another post soon with his closet and specific brands of clothing that we love!

The Alphabet Cross Stitch: My mom hand made this beautiful cross stitch piece and had it framed. When I was little, she smocked all of my clothing and continues to sew and cross stitch today. This is such a sweet gift that we will treasure and I made sure to give it a front and center spot in the room.

Melissa & Doug Blue Wooden Train: I registered for this adorable wooden train, not fully knowing just how large it was. It is the perfect piece to sit on top of his bookshelf for now, and then when he gets old enough, it’s a great, classic toy to play with. I love it and the quality is amazing! The blue stacking rings are also Melissa & Doug.

I tried to link as much as I could below or find similar items. Please let me know if you have any questions about the room! Thank you for letting me share this sweet, special space with you all!
