Our Home Purchases: Sofa
K: I’m so excited to share the first look at our new home today! Most of these photos come from our main living area which includes the den and a small library off of the dining room. Brandon and I were lucky enough to find a 1950s home that already had a significant amount of remodeling done. That meant that we could come in and make some minor updates, without having to worry about huge projects like new floors or knocking down walls. That being said, we wanted to take time to share our home purchases so far in the decorating process.
We’ve been saving and looking for a sectional sofa almost since we got married. I had a Chesterfield tufted couch that has served me well during graduate school and my first apartment. Unfortunately, that sofa (now in the library), didn’t comfortably fit both of us if we ever wanted to lay down and watch a movie. A sectional seemed like the obvious answer, especially as we hope to grow our family.
After a lot of searching, Pottery Barn seemed to have the best option that checked all of our boxes. We wanted an even sectional, meaning that each piece or “section” was the same length. This ensures that we can flip it both ways for future homes; it can be “L” shaped or a backwards “L”. We also wanted an extremely durable fabric that would be resistant to stains. Pottery Barn offered the largest selection of these premium fabrics and even mailed us samples for free (which we then tested with ketchup, wine, dog hair, etc.) We also went into the Pottery Barn store and sat in the exact sofa to test for comfort. The sofa arrived in one month, even though it said to expect 6 weeks. White glove delivery service came and set up the sofa in a matter of minutes and we could not be happier with our new situation. It is beyond comfortable! And even though I’m embarrassed to say, we’ve already put the fabric durability to the test when Brandon accidentally got chocolate on the white fabric. Luckily, it really is resistant and everything came out perfectly!

Our Home Purchases: Pillows
I posted about these antelope printed pillows on Instagram Stories last week and had tons of questions! I thought I’d go ahead and address everything here in case some of you missed our stories.
Etsy provided these beauties and the quality is outstanding. It’s a linen fabric with print on the front and a solid tan fabric on the back. Keep in mind, the pillow inserts have to be purchased separately. I found mine on Amazon and linked them here below (*Note: I recommend purchasing down pillows so that they can be fluffed easier. A cotton or polyester won’t keep its shape the same way). We ordered the 20×20 size but the Etsy listing offers a huge variety, all the way from 12×16 to 24×24.

Our Home Purchases: Botanical Print Pictures
I also shared these beautiful botanical prints on Instagram and a lot of you seemed to be really interested in them and the quality. They’re from Wayfair and come with six in the set. Each print is different but comes mounted with a fabric matte and pretty gold frame. I like how they can be separated away from each other (we have three on two different walls), or kept together as a set. To me, they are timeless and can go in multiple rooms, home styles, and work with a variety of furniture and decor.

Our Home Purchases: Entryway Light
We took a tired, dated entryway light and gave it a breath of freshness by a simple replacement with something a little more modern. Brandon and I fell in love with this Pottery Barn light fixture and since he’s already replaced the ceiling fans of the house, we knew replacing a light fixture would be the same process. I’m proud of my handyman husband! He’s saved us quite a bit since we haven’t had to hire an electrician for all of the fixture replacements!

Home Items On Sale:
I’d be remitted if I didn’t mention a few great steals in the home decor category. With the Nordstrom Sale going on, we’ve got our eye on a couple of things (Capri Blue candles, pillows, an awesome throw, just to name a few). Clothing is taking a back seat for us right now and we’re trying to focus on home items for the time being. Here are a few of our favorite home decor items included in the sale:

Hope you guys enjoyed the first look into our home! We’re excited to share more! You can expect to see before + after pictures of the exterior sometime soon, as well as updates and posts about the big garage renovation and how we’ll be turning it into Brandon’s “man cave”. Have a happy Monday!!
