What To Do In Fredericksburg TX
The Texas Hill Country is one of our favorite places in the world; Fredericksburg is nestled right in the heart of Texas and we’ve made countless trips to this charming little German town. Brandon and I recently made our last trip up to Fredericksburg before our big move this summer. We’re sad to be leaving this area of Texas but know that the west will hold its own set of adventure and exploration for the two of us. If you’re planning a trip to the hill country, we’ve got you covered on what to do in Fredericksburg TX!
Visit Wildseed Farms In Fredericksburg TX

Wildseed Farms is worth a quick stop, if only for a few photos! Located right off highway 290 and next to several major vineyards, the wildflower farm boasts local color through the spring, summer, and early fall months. Be sure to check their website to see what’s currently blooming!
In addition to natural wildflowers, they also have an adorable nursery with tons of plants and flowers. Load up a cart and bring some home, or just admire like we usually do! There are pathways through everything but we’d recommend close toed shoes to avoid gravel in your sandals.

Go Peach Picking

Although the Fredericksburg peach season only lasts from May to late June, it is completely worth timing your trip to be there during this time! Fredericksburg is known for peaches and has some of the best in the state. We recommend Jenschke Orchards because you get to go out to the trees and pick your own. They then weigh your box and calculate a price based on weight.
You can also opt to get peaches at one of the many roadside stands (located off highway 290, just outside of town). If you don’t have time to pick the peaches yourself, take a quick Pitt stop and just buy a dozen. These charming stands also carry homemade jams, honey, other fruits, and vegetables.
Visit A Fredericksburg Winery

Fredericksburg is also known for their wine and local wineries. You can’t visit without stopping in for a wine tasting somewhere! We love Grape Creek Vineyards because of their dog friendly patio and live music + restaurant. Becker Vineyards and William Chris are also excellent (we’ve been to both). Through friends, we’ve heard great things about Messina Hof and Pedernales Cellars. We’d recommend making reservations beforehand just to ensure yourself a spot.

Shop & Stay
Although it can get crowded, Main Street is ideal for shoppers. Boutiques, antique shops, and gift stores are all available in the downtown area. You could easily walk it all at a leisurely pace in about an hour or two, just depending on how much you want to shop.
Our absolute favorite place to shop is Woerner Warehouse (also one of our favorite places to eat). Next door to Woerner is another antique shop called Carol Hicks Bolton Antiques. Filled with dreamy white linens and unique European pieces, it is simply gorgeous to walk through for inspiration. These two are definitely a must-stop shop for us anytime we go!
Where To Stay The Night:
We also love veering off of Main Street and looking at the residential neighborhoods with all of the cute little cottages and B&Bs. There are tons of rental properties in Fredericksburg if you’re wanting to spend the night. I honestly like Absolute Charm for booking in Fredericksburg more than I like Air BNB. Definitely stay in a cottage or house over a hotel if possible!

Other Places & Things To Do In Fredericksburg
Enchanted Rock: Visit the “mountain” of granite and be sure to take some photos up at the top! You can hike this natural area and get some pretty incredible views along the way overlooking the hill country. We recommend starting this activity early in the day to beat the heat and the crowds.
Fredericksburg Herb Farm: We found this quaint little spot on one of our last visits. They have a great restaurant, pathways to explore, and the cutest little cottages if you want to stay the night!
Eat All The German Food: You’ll find no shortage of German restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg. Among the most popular are Otto’s, The Auslander, and Old German Bakery and Restaurant.
Visit Das Peach Haus: One of our favorite Fredericksburg spots! They have a cute gift shop but the backside is where the beauty is! Brandon and I have taken pictures here with Fredericksburg photographer, Lauren Bosse (highly recommend if you want some professional family photos during your visit!). The setting is gorgeous and makes you feel like you’re in East Texas with all of the pine trees.
