The Last Month // Our Time Off
As I sit here and type, it’s been almost one month since our last blog post; easily our longest break yet. We shared our thoughts briefly here, but to be honest, I was so burned out that I didn’t even feel up to the task of writing everything out in that post. I think it was a combination of a lot of things that left us feeling tired and burned out, and I’m just glad we were able to quickly recognize the need for a good, long break.
When it comes to blogging and social media, December is a time for lots of sharing and lots of content. Brandon and I felt zapped of our energy and I especially found myself exhausted with the constant need to create blog posts, Instagrams, and everything else that comes with the territory of this. Then I remembered that I didn’t start this blog with those feelings. I started this space feeling inspired, excited, and eager to share the aspects of our life that we found invigorating. Somehow, I knew I wanted to get those emotions back and replace my jaded views. A break seemed to be the only logical answer.
Now, almost one month later, I am so happy we took some time. Brandon and I made minimal plans over the holiday break and spent tons of time doing nothing. Netflix marathons, lazy mornings, meals made together, and even time fighting off nasty colds. You know, the stuff that you don’t ever see people document on Instagram. And here we are, one month later; happy hearts, rested bodies, and ready to start dipping our toes back into the blogging waters. Because despite my earlier feelings, I still think that this platform is amazing. I absolutely love connecting with you all and sharing meaningful moments from our life. That was the basis for One Swainky Couple. If you’re up for it, read on to see what changes we’d like to make and where we hope to take this little corner of the internet in 2019. We’ve got some awesome things planned!

Blog Intentions & Aims For 2019
As cheesy as it sounds, change is in the air. After a lot of reflection, I’ve really firmed up a few solid things that I want to share with you all about the blog:
- More lifestyle, less fashion. This one was a hard one for me to wrestle with because I still love and enjoy fashion. I started this with a true intention of making One Swainky Couple a fashion and travel blog but it quickly evolved into lifestyle. You all seem to enjoy our lifestyle/travel content a lot more and even told me so in our latest survey. I’ll still link outfit details in most posts, but I’ve finally come to the conclusion that One Swainky couple is not truly a fashion blog, and that’s okay.
- More content that focuses on relationships. As a couple blog, we’d really like to place heavier emphasis on things that help you and your relationships. Weeknight meal inspiration, date ideas, our latest home finds, tablescapes and party inspiration, travel destinations for two, the list can go on. At the center of everything, we want there to be focus on growing your relationship.
- More inspiration overall. In regards to Instagram, when I think of the accounts I love most, they are all inspiring to me in some way. We’re going to be sharing more of what inspires us, even if it’s not a photo taken by us. I think there’s so much beauty out there to be shared and admired, so I’m aiming to bring more of it to our feed in a curated manner.
- Less is more. We’ll be going down to two posts a week instead of three. Again, this was a hard one for me to wrestle with, but after much consideration, I think this will really help us bring higher quality content and a little more free time for ourselves. We’ll be posting on Monday and Wednesday and opting out of our Friday posts.

Again, a huge thank you to everyone following along! It means so much to have your continued support. We’ll see you back here on Wednesday for a fun little update on our new piece of land!
