Our Upcoming Road Trip
K: For some reason, it feels like it’s been ages since we’ve traveled. Our last trip was during early August when we went to Colorado. Since then, we’ve done small things like our day trip to Fredericksburg and visit to the flower farm, but nothing major. Travel is a part of who we are and the constant quest for adventure and longing for new cultures, places, and scenery is innate in both Brandon and I. That’s why we’re so excited about our upcoming road trip. We’ll be doing a tour of the south during the entire week that I’m off for Thanksgiving break. Read on to see where we’re headed and we’ll take any suggestions that you can give!
Where We’re Going
B: Katherine and I are headed to Memphis, Nashville, Asheville, Birmingham, and New Orleans. We’re quite ambitious with all of these stops happening in just one week but we’re excited for the challenge that it brings. We both love the south and everything that comes with it; so when the chance came to visit our good friends who recently moved to Asheville, we decided to make an entire trip out of it and hit more than just one spot.
Aside from seeing our friends, I’m most excited for an awesome blues bar in Memphis and jazz in New Orleans. I know the music in both cities is going to be incredible and we both love to find a good music spot while we travel for some entertainment. I’m also confident that the food will be outstanding in every city.
K: I’m most excited for Asheville! I’ve seen so many great pictures and I’ve been in love with the Carolinas since I was little. Growing up in Georgia gave me such an appreciation of the South, but there are still a lot of cities I haven’t been to. New Orleans has been on my list for quite some time now and I’m thrilled to finally have the chance to visit.
Please leave us a comment or shoot us an email (oneswainkycouple@gmail.com) if you live in any of these cities and have recommendations or if you’ve been and have things to share! We will take all the tips we can get! We leave in two and a half weeks and are counting down the days.
What We’re Packing
The weather in San Antonio has been so sporadic lately. One day we’re in the 80s, the next we’ve dropped fifteen degrees in temperature. Brandon and I are expecting more consistent temperatures that will be chillier, just in time for the Thanksgiving season. I’m choosing to bring things that feel festive and fun, while also remaining practical for lots of walking and exploring. I put together this little collage of items as a packing inspiration for our upcoming road trip. If you’re looking for festive Thanksgiving (or even dipping into Christmas) outfits, I think any of these would be perfect and also comfortable.
On Katherine: Asos sweater, similar scarf ($13!!), white jeans, similar riding boots
On Brandon: Blue plaid flannel, Banana republic pants
