We Bought Land!
B: It’s been a long-time dream of mine to own land, clean it up, and create a family property. Even before Katherine, I searched and searched for property in my off time, never finding one that met all of my requirements and fit my budget. When Katherine and I were dating, I shared this dream with her and she fueled me forward, promising that one day we would make it happen.
I was always searching online for land and found a few promising pieces but something always got in the way. Maybe that particular piece didn’t have running water nearby, or it was too far from San Antonio; whatever the case, we couldn’t find one that felt right. Finally, we found one that seemed almost too good to be true. I quickly contacted a farm and ranch Realtor and made an appointment for us to go out and visit. After our first trip, Katherine and I both got back into the car and immediately knew this was the one. We’re notorious for our quick decisions and first impressions (see the story of how we met for proof). It met all of our requirements and fit the budget, something that still seems a little miraculous to us both. We officially signed at the end of July and made our first official trip out as the owners over Labor Day weekend.
K: While the property still need a lot of work (like countless hours), we couldn’t wait to share a little piece of it with you and let you know our thoughts. We’re really hoping to document the entire process of cleaning and shaping the land, as well as our eventual hope to build a home out there. This blog has completely evolved into a lifestyle site and we really feel like the journey of our land should be documented here! The pictures below were taken upon our first visit ever, before we even owned the land. Sorry for the iPhone snaps, but we’re not really in a place for styled photos just yet. We also created a short IGTV video (below) over Labor Day Weekend to “show you around” the property.
Again, keep in mind that this is rough right now. We haven’t touched anything. Both Brandon and I feel like the raw land is beautiful, but he especially has a vision to shape everything and create a gorgeous Texas oasis. I’m so excited to see where this project takes us and so very excited to support his dream!
