5 Creative Ways To Package Baked Goods
I love to bake. I know this isn’t a food blog, but I often find myself in a situation where I’ve baked a whole batch of cookies, brownies, or some sort of baked good and I need to get rid of it! Obviously, Brandon and I can’t have two dozen peanut butter chocolate chip cookies lying around, so I love to find a way to package everything up and send it along to family or friends. Especially as a teacher, I’m gifting brownies, bars, or cookies as holiday gifts or welcome back-to-school presents. Who doesn’t love to receive a few homemade desserts every now and then? Instead of packaging everything up in a Tupperware (that may not make its way back to you), I’ve compiled my five favorite ways to send along baked goods. All of these are so easy, but the presentation makes it seem a little bit “extra”.

Stack
Especially if you’re trying to gift to a lot of different people, stacking two or three cookies in a cellophane bag is perfect. I also love the idea of stacking the item and simply tying it up with paper and twine (pictured here on Pinterest). Fun clips or ribbon can add a pop of color to the presentation and this guarantees recipients will be able to transport the item easily and without a mess.
Box
Instead of sending cookies in a boring Tupperware, grab one of these cute boxes at any craft store or online. Line it with parchment paper, plastic wrap, paper, or anything else to keep it clean inside. To me, this appears so much more special than a plastic container. Plus, you could easily customize the box with a name, monogram, or note.
Bag
These little paper bags can really come in handy for treats! Perfect for sending along to a class party or using as party favors at your next event, they come in all colors, patterns, and sizes. I usually wrap cookies up in plastic wrap and then put them in the bag. This keeps them fresh and allows them to last longer. I especially love this bag that holds a single cookie. Will definitely be adding these to my Amazon cart!
Customize
Nothing appears more thought-out than a customized gift. For our wedding, Brandon and I ordered these white boxes and then had a friend print out sticker labels for them. We filled the boxes with all sorts of goodies, and out-of-town guests had a box waiting for them at their hotel. You could easily replicate this whole gift box for someone during the holidays or for a birthday. Order custom stickers here or invest in a silhouette machine to print stickers yourself.
Sew
My mom is the queen of these little hand sewn bags. She makes them all the time and will package mini bread loafs inside for friends. It’s so simple to grab some fabric and sew a homemade bag. You don’t even have to use a sewing machine! Simply match the fabric up together (pattern on the inside so that you’re looking at the “dull” side), sew the edges with thread, and then fold inside out to reveal the patterned fabric. Just make sure you take measurements first to ensure that your baked good will fit properly.
