Travel The World Without Leaving The House
Any long time reader will know that Brandon and I love to travel. We’ve been given some amazing opportunities so far in our marriage and one thing that we treasure is learning about a new culture, particularly through food. In Puerto Rico, we discovered plantains and eagerly came home trying to replicate the fried banana-like chips. In Charleston, it was fried green tomatoes that caught our attention. And in San Diego, it was the mouth-watering fish tacos. This love for a city’s food can easily be brought into any home, even without travel. Brandon and I are dying to visit Asia and learn more about the amazing culture that surrounds every city and we decided to bring a small dose of that to our humble abode with Bibigo Korean Cuisines at H-E-B.
Set The Stage & Create Your Menu
I have fallen in love with tablescape designs and love borrowing my mother’s dishes or using our own to set the stage for a dinner. Ask anyone and see that I don’t wait for an excuse to set the table. I love creating beautiful designs that coordinate with the evening’s menu and this particular tablescape was no exception. For our Asian themed meal, we kept things simple with a package of Bibigo’s mini wontons chicken and vegetable flavor to create an easy wonton soup. All of my Texas girls who shop at H-E-B, you can find these bite-size wontons and other Bibigo products in the frozen food aisle of “appetizers”. Just an FYI, at my H-E-B the appetizer aisle was also shared with the frozen pizzas!
Simple Wonton Soup Recipe + Tutorial
One of the appeals to the entire Bibigo line is how simple and easy it is to prepare. For the soup, we simply brought a pot of chicken broth to boil, added as many wontons as desired, allowed them to cook for about five minutes, served in bowls, and added green onions on top for garnish. If you want a heartier meal, be sure to check out something like the Bibigo Garlic Chicken meal or the Pork Steamed Dumplings at H-E-B. For a different kind of meal, pan sear the wontons or add them to a salad for a delicious dinner.
1. Bring a small pot or saucer to boil with chicken broth
2. Add frozen wontons and cook until thawed (about 5 minutes)
3. Serve in bowls and garnish with chopped green onion
Enjoy!
Does it get any easier than a three-step meal? I’m definitely keeping this H-E-B Bibigo meal in my repertoire of dinner recipes, especially once the school year starts and things get even busier! We hope this inspires you to bring travel into your home through food!
