The Best Memories Of Our Summer
Can you believe that summer is almost over?! Teachers start back next week to prepare and before you know it, fall will be upon us. Last summer we did this same type of post and rounded up our favorite memories of the summer as a way to reflect upon the season. As a teacher, summers are sacred and special to me since it’s truly a time away from work and an opportunity to adventure, travel, dive into my hobbies, and spend more time with Brandon. The summer of 2018 was a great one for us both! Here are the best memories of our summer:
1. Revamping Our Back Porch
Although we only revealed the finished product, this project took a lot of weekends for us to complete! I’ve never been to Home Depot so often! We spent lots of time painting and getting everything just right. Overall, the end result was completely worth it, and now we spend much more time outside and even eat out there regularly.

2. Visiting Martha’s Vineyard
Easily one of the top highlights of our summer! We spent five days up in New England and it was our first time to visit the area! Needless to say, a trip back will definitely be in our future, maybe to Nantucket next time? Between the break from the heat, New England charm, and all of the fun we had, I know we’ll look back on our Martha’s Vineyard trip as one of the fondest memories.

3. Peach Picking In Fredericksburg
I think we’d both agree that we loved this day! Brandon and I have been to Fredericksburg several times, but never to pick peaches! This is a South Texas “thing” if you will, and we were so happy to have our friend Lauren capture the moments. Plus, the end result was a pretty awesome peach cobbler and delicious ripe peaches for days.

4. Exploring More of San Antonio
This same item of exploring more of San Antonio made last year’s list too. We always love spending time in our city and this year, we even got to publish a full San Antonio City Guide and a 48 Hour Itinerary for anyone who may be visiting soon. Finding new spots, neighborhoods, restaurants, and things to do is always a favorite activity of ours.

5. Hosting A Moroccan Backyard Party
What a fun evening to remember! Brandon and I hosted a party for friends at the house with the theme of a Moroccan Evening. Everything matched the theme, including the outdoor movie of “Casablanca”. It was a blast to create and host this event for me and I think our friends really enjoyed it!

6. Buying Property
No pictures of this one yet but we bought a small piece of land this summer! We’re very excited about this investment and it came at a great time. Brandon has always wanted a piece of land and I quickly jumped on board once we found the ideal spot. We’re hoping to build a tiny but lovely dream home in a few years! This is one that we’ll definitely keep you guys posted on!
7. Attending Conferences For Our Hobbies
Both Brandon and I got to attend two separate conferences for our hobbies. Mine was a blogging conference up in Dallas with speakers like Ashley Robertson from The Teacher Diva and Katey McFarland from Chronicles of Frivolity. Brandon’s conference was about deer management because one of his dreams is to own and take care of wildlife, particularly Texas deer. We love the fact that we can support each other in our own different interests and continue to learn as an adult.
8. Vacationing With Family In Colorado
We’re currently up in Vail, Colorado on a vacation with my family! Last year we went to Costa Rica with Brandon’s family and this year, it’s my family’s turn. The cooler weather is a dream and we’ve had such a great time so far. Be sure to follow along on IG Stories for a closer look! Blog posts will be coming next week 🙂
