Peach Picking In Fredericksburg
For Brandon and I, there’s nothing more idyllic than a morning spent outside, enjoying something special about nature. On this last Saturday morning, we drove an hour to the German town of Fredericksburg, home to the wine country of Texas and the famous Fredericksburg peaches of the hill country.
Peach picking has been on our to-do list since last year, when we mistakenly missed the season. We hit it pretty early this year, just to ensure that the opportunity wouldn’t pass by. Our preparedness paid off, and we had a huge selection to choose from. If you’re headed down to the Texas hill country, we highly recommend this as a date activity. Just be sure and arrive first thing in the morning to avoid the heat and the crazy lines. When we left the orchard at 10:00, the line was out the door!
Jenschke Orchard
We knew that we wanted a “pick your own” orchard for our visit. The area has a plethora of roadside peach and fruit stands, but we wanted the experience of actually peach picking in Fredericksburg. One of the coolest things about Jenschke Orchard is that they encourage you to eat peaches straight from the tree. Of course, Brandon and I put this to the test, choosing the ripest peaches to pull straight from the branch. I ate two during our time and Brandon polished off four peaches, enjoying every messy bite.
The Gal Meets Glam Dress
If you haven’t heard by now, my favorite blogger of all time, Julia Engel, launched a collection of dresses that are perfect for any summer adventure. I purchased the Caroline dress from the May collection and had to put it to the test this past weekend on our visit. I loved how breezy and flowy the dress was, and the pockets came in handy a few times when my hands were full of peaches. Plus, the gorgeous mint color is so dreamy and perfect for summertime. I’ve linked a few of my current favorites below for you to shop if you’re interested!
