San Antonio Fiesta Outfits
We’re so excited to share today’s post in celebration of one of the biggest events in San Antonio! Fiesta season is a big deal but even if you aren’t from San Antonio, all of this applies to Cinco De Mayo! Of course, we wanted to keep things related to fashion so you’ll find San Antonio fiesta outfits and details at the end. Grab your margarita and get ready to FIESTA.
What Is Fiesta?
If you’re from San Antonio, then you know what a big deal Fiesta season is for the city. Essentially, it’s a two-week celebration time as a salute to those who fought in the Battle of the Alamo. It began as a way to honor their memories and the townspeople created a parade, known as the Battle of the Flowers Parade. Still today, schools are closed for our Battle of the Flowers holiday on April 27 and it’s the primary day for parades, confetti, margaritas, and a way to celebrate the rich Mexican culture of San Antonio. The parade itself is made up of floats covered in paper flowers and many people wear flower crowns and vivid colors to match.
How Can You Celebrate?
Besides the big parade, events are occurring throughout the two-week period. There’s a court composed of a Fiesta king and queen, carnivals, a masquerade party, a flower show, and lots of neighborhood parties. Brandon and I typically celebrate with the parade in the King William district of town, and of course, going out for Mexican food and margaritas.
What Can You Wear?
I love Fiesta attire! The brighter the colors, the better! San Antonio embraces its Mexican roots and for the holiday, people typically wear the floral embroidered Mexican shirts, flow-y dresses, or bright colors. I loved wearing white as an unexpected twist and pairing a traditional fiesta flower crown as my primary accessory. If you’re coming to San Antonio, the paper crowns are very easy to find. Peek into almost any little shop downtown and you’re bound to find one!
