K: As we mentioned in our Facebook Live video, a city is a city when you really get down to it and we’ve decided that we enjoy a smaller setting with charming shops and unique restaurants. Although we loved San Diego and had so much fun there, Brandon and I opted to spend a day in La Jolla to explore a smaller town with a prominent California coastal town vibe.
La Jolla is just a twenty minute drive from San Diego and we got up early on Saturday to beat the infamous traffic that everyone kept telling us about. We made it in twenty minutes, no problem, and settled in for breakfast at the most darling pancake restaurant. After that, we spent the day walking through art galleries, shops, and everything else that La Jolla had to offer. Our favorite spot was a quiet little outdoor terrace where these pictures were taken. Since we weren’t staying at a hotel in La Jolla, we used it as a spot to relax with our iced tea and sugar cookies before venturing on to the beach.
B: One phrase sums it all up, “Iced tea to-go, and beautiful mission style tiles”. I have long adored mission tiles. Their simple shape and construction boast intricately hand painted details of color and geometry that have stood the test of time for centuries. Though these particular tiles are newly constructed, their burst of fresh color caught my eye and threw my mind towards thoughts of old Spanish haciendas in their peak of glory. Needless to say, a photo opportunity was a must.
Interestingly enough, Katherine and I are actually in the early stages of dreaming through a small Spanish hacienda style cottage in the hill country of central Texas. We have big plans for building a future property and vacation home together, and cannot wait to share further details with everyone as our dreams slowly progress into reality. And of course, our dream will possess concrete tiles from the original mission tile company in San Louis Potosi, Mexico, representing the true essence of a Spanish hacienda.
K: I am so ready for spring! This little sundress was a great buy at just $17 and I’ve already noticed several other dresses with polka dots popping out for spring. The print is timeless, yet fun and flirty. The ruffle sleeves add a vintage touch and I loved how lightweight and wrinkle free the fabric was. Paired with flats and my trusty straw bag, and this outfit was perfect for traveling.
