As you guys know, last weekend Brandon and I went “glamping”. Before we arrived at our cabin in the woods, we stayed one night at Hotel Granduca in Austin, Texas. They offered for us to come out and experience their beautiful hotel, located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. It was romantic, European inspired, and perfect for a couple’s getaway trip. Here’s a recap and review of our stay:
Our Stay At Hotel Granduca, Austin:
We arrived and checked into our gorgeous suite, complete with an Illy espresso machine, a comfortable living room, and the most gorgeous bathtub I’ve ever seen (be sure to watch our Instagram Story travel highlights for a video tour of the room). Although it was chilly, Brandon and I explored the outside of the hotel a lot, discovering the gorgeous outdoor patio, pool with cabanas, and immaculate grounds. That afternoon, we played chess, had a drink at the bar, and of course, took plenty of pictures.
Brandon and I made a reservation at the hotel restaurant, Visconti. I had some of the best risotto ever, and Brandon ordered the pork chop (he cannot resist if he sees that as a menu option). The restaurant, much like the hotel, felt quiet and secluded in the best way possible. Hotel Granduca is in the Westlake area of Austin so it avoids the mayhem that is downtown. Although it’s only a short drive from all of the typical Austin attractions, we’d recommend this spot for a great, romantic getaway. I can see this hotel being perfect during the summer months, lounging by the pool with a drink in hand.
One of the cool features of Hotel Granduca Austin is the fact that it backs up to hiking trails through the beautiful hill country. The hotel itself is glamorous, but the area surrounding it opens up hundreds of outdoor activities and possibilities for exploration. We took the opportunity to hike the Barton Creek Greenbelt and absolutely loved starting our Saturday morning off in nature. Additionally, the hotel is close to the Barton Springs Pool, the Austin 360 bridge, several museums, and of course, it’s only a short drive from downtown Austin. We’ve talked before about how Austin makes for the perfect weekend trip, especially for couples. There is so much to do, amazing restaurants, and it’s a gorgeous city overall. Let us know if you have any questions about Hotel Granduca itself or Austin in general! We’d love to help you plan your next little getaway!
