K: We’re only a week into November; yet the holiday season is already upon us, showcasing itself through the Christmas songs on the radio, decorations already popping up, and a packed social calendar to celebrate. As we enter into the busiest time of the year, I’ve got a few reflections that I thought would be worth sharing.
In the past, I used to be a firm believer that Christmas decorations shouldn’t go up until after Thanksgiving, and that we shouldn’t rush the fall season just to jump to winter. If you are this way, there’s nothing wrong with that; however, my perspective has changed over the past few years and I’m no longer holding onto that firm belief.
Instead of being grumpy about passing over Thanksgiving, I’ve decided to fully embrace the earliness of Christmas this year. Why wouldn’t I want to celebrate the best time of the year for a little bit longer? Why shouldn’t we honor our Savior’s birthday and be excited about its approach? Christmas truly brings out joy, peace, cheer, reflection, togetherness, and so many other positive qualities. I don’t know about you, but I feel like our world could use these qualities more than ever right now. Why not embrace the season?
To help spur the season on, we’re jumping on board with holiday content. We won’t be skipping over Thanksgiving though (stay tuned for a few Thanksgiving Day outfit ideas next week), but we did go ahead and add a “Holiday Shop” tab up at the top of the blog. There, you’ll find gifts for her and gifts for him so that you can get a jump start on that perfect gift. If there’s anything in particular you’d like to see with holiday content, please be sure and leave a comment below or email us at oneswainkycouple@gmail.com.
On Katherine: Ciao graphic tee, Anthropologie skirt, DSW Unisa heels, Michele watch, Anthropologie earrings, Stila Liquid Lipstick
I love your outfit, it’s just casual enough but I love that you paired it with those heels! I feel like the holiday season is either embrace it or just put blinders on until you’re ready for it.
Thanks Laura!! That’s such a good way to put it!
I’m a fan of the entire season -from now until New Years!! It’s all great! Love your red skirt and heels! So pretty! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
I have to admit that I am not ready for the holiday season yet. I could not believe the overload of Christmas commercials the day after Halloween. It just feels forced right now. I am looking forward to the fun and togetherness of the season though. This is the cutest outfit.

Thanks Blaire! Yes, I think if it feels forced, don’t push it. The “holiday magic” sets in differently for everyone. We’re excited!
I’m pretty excited that the Holiday season is almost upon us! I absolutely LOVE this outfit–those heels are so chic! Holiday perfection for sure!

Normally I feel the same way about waiting until after Thanksgiving but this year I have been a little more accepting of an early start to the holiday season. It is such a wonderful time of year so why not extend the celebration 🙂

Haha thanks Samantha!! I’m embracing, for sure!
Love how you dressed up this fun graphic tee! That skirt is stunning and perfect for the holiday season <3
Green Fashionista
Thanks Kate!! The skirt would work perfectly for any holiday occasion, I totally agree!
This skirt is sooo pretty and I love that you wore it was a tee! I was the same way with Thanksgiving but we’ve compromised a bit. We still don’t put our tree up until Thanksgiving weekend but we do listen to Christmas music and start with some of our smaller decor. This time of year is so fun! Sierra ~ Beautifully Candid
That sounds like a logical compromise! We’re thinking of doing some of the smaller decor soon too.
I used to believe they shouldn’t go up until after Thanksgiving but now I don’t really care. I don’t celebrate American Thanksgiving anymore and we are the only country that has a major holiday between Halloween and Christmas. And they all start getting ready as soon as November hits!
Love your skirt! Super cute!

Effortlessly Sophisticated
That’s such a good point Jennifer! I’m ready for it!
I’m the very same way. I used to dislike anything Christmas before thanksgiving, but now I love it. It’s such a wonderful time of year, why not celebrate it all a little longer!

I absolutely agree! I used to be the same way and starting last year I started celebrating it a little earlier. I LOVE LOVE LOVE This skirt. it is gorgeous.
Thanks Court! Honestly, I thought of you when I bought it! Seemed like something you’d wear 🙂

I am with you, Let the Christmas season begin! I love Thanksgiving, but there is nothing wrong with making the Christmas season a little longer, if anything maybe it will remind us to be kinder to others. Love this look, your skirt is gorgeous and goes perfectly with your graphic tee!

That red skirt looks so great on, Katherine! Ahhh, the holidays. It’s amazing how we go directly from having Halloween decorations everywhere to suddenly having Christmas stuff the next!

I’m ALL about diving head first into the holiday season. I think it’s just so special all the feels that everyone gets. And I teach 1st grade, so it’s better to just give in to all their excitement! Plus, it’s an excuse for holiday baking, and who can be mad at that? Bring on the cheer!
