K: As a teacher, I’m always struggling to make sure that my closet is balanced. There was a point when I realized that so many of my clothes looked a little too “teacher-y” and I didn’t have much that would work for a date night or just simple weekend wear. I am constantly on the lookout for a great dress for school and for a date; this dress just so happens to do both…a rare find.
K: When I first saw this dress, I glanced at the front and immediately thought that it’d be great for school. Upon seeing the back, the hilarious slogan, “business in the front, party in the back” came to mind. Thankfully, this dress is much better than a mullet. The front conveys the message that it’s a perfect work dress, while the back shows just the right amount of skin for your next Saturday date night. My solution into making this work for both occasions? Simply add a cardigan for work and remove it for your date! Luckily, Nordstrom has tons of great cardigans on sale right now like the one I’m wearing below. Additionally, this dress is a lightweight fabric to ensure that it can transition into fall. It’s still scorching in Texas right now but I was surprisingly okay while wearing the dress. Add some tights and a jacket and this immediately transforms into a fall outfit. It also comes in black and a deep maroon.
K: The cardigan adds a great touch for the office or for school. Plus, if your work environment is anything like mine, it always seems like it’s 60 degrees in there! My classroom has often resembled the frigid temperatures of Antarctica and on the days where I forget a sweater, I’m definitely suffering. Something like this cardigan or even this pretty maroon color would be a great choice for the dress. Layer a heavier jacket on top for fall and you’re good to go!

K: When transitioning a dress from day to night, most people will give the advice of wearing flats and then changing into heels. I much prefer the option of heeled booties instead. Who wants to carry an extra pair of shoes all day? Booties can work for the office and for your date, especially if they’ve got a block heel that won’t kill your feet. You can’t go wrong with a neutral camel color and these are still on sale for the Nordstrom sale (only $79!). I’ve included a few other great options (all on sale) simply because they’re such a fall staple for your closet.
