What Blogging Means to Me
If you’re reading this, you’re probably a lot like me. You enjoy reading blogs and enjoy fashion or style in some regard. I’ve followed blogs for years and have always been fascinated with the way that people can share their lives digitally while having a creative outlet to express their personal style. Many people could probably look at a blog and think of it as a selfish endeavor or something that is materialistic. I hope that you never look at One Swainky Couple as just a platform for “stuff.” Brandon and I do love style; however, we also love life and documenting all of the little adventures we’re having as a young married couple. We never want our blog to feel like we’re just trying to sell clothes or showcase what we have. It’s more about inspiration and our experiences in day-to-day life. Additionally, I love writing. It’s my favorite part about the blog and by creating content to share with you guys, it’s a way to hold myself accountable for writing nearly every day. Brandon enjoys the photography aspect of the blog and has already improved so much since the start of this endeavor. For the two of us, it’s a way to document our lives and hopefully share a little piece of our relationship with the world.
Our Mission Statement
As a couple, Brandon and I hope to inspire other couples and give them inspiration for their lives. As you can probably tell, we love spending time together and prioritize dates so that we can grow closer together through marriage. Our blog has so many ideas on what couples can do together, apart from just dinner and a movie. As Christians, we hope to live our lives in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord. He calls us to honor our spouses and create a relationship that is centered around Him. While Brandon and I don’t talk about our faith regularly on the blog, we need you to know that it is the backbone of our marriage. Without God, we would not be able to have the relationship that we have. Our overarching mission is to provide you with a positive source of inspiration for life and style, while giving tips and ideas for any couple.
A Note on Comparison
I hope that you enjoyed this today! If you’d like to see more posts like this, please let me know! We want to create meaningful content for our readers and would love to know what’s meaningful to you and what you’d like to see on One Swainky Couple.

What a great post, Katherine! I love your openness and honestly!
I feel you Katherine. And it's so hard not to compare to other bloggers but we all start somewhere! As long as we love and enjoy the process, that's all that matters! Keep kicking butt guys! ❤️ http://www.simplymeli.com
Hi Katherine,
I love reading blogs and the combination of beautiful pictures and a story.
Keep up the great work. Have a nice weekend.

What a beautiful post and so well said. Someone recently attacked me on Twitter for my faith after they scrolled through my blog and said I was the "typical Christian hypocrite". It amazed me that they could look at my blog which covers such a small fraction of my life and think they know all about me. I absolutely love what you're wearing. Those pants are amazing! Love the top and shoes too!
This was a great post, I love how transparent the two of you are and have loved getting to watch it grow!

Your gorgeous outfit is a pretty garden. The palm trees are certainly gorgeous. Love the embroidered jeans and those awesome block heel sandals. That hi-lo top is pretty, too. It is so great to see how passionate you are about blogging and your faith and that you do not compare yourself to others. I do believe comparison can only lead to bad things. We each should do our own things, right?!
Welcome by and share your amazing style at my latest style linkup which just went Live. Thanks, Ada. =)

I am with you. It is tough to figure out how to live as a Christian in a blogging world that is about social media, comparison, and possessions. I think you are doing a good job!

Straight A Style
Blogging is hard. Especially with fashion. Sometimes you feel like you can only share new things you can link to, but I know I personally like it when people share more attainable looks. Because making people feel like they need to buy something new feels icky!
I love real life posts, and I think most people do too. Especially when it includes a happy couple, providing useful and relevant tips! You're doing great!

Thank you Amy Ann! You are so sweet to say that! I think your blog is amazing and I can definitely see that you are in it for the right reasons
I'm excited to see those posts Taylor! Thank you again for being such a loyal reader 🙂
You are so sweet and your comment just made my day! Love having wonderful people support this blog and creating a community that supports each other!
Courtney, thank you so much!! We really appreciate you as a reader and hope that you continue to come back and find relevant content for your life!
Isn't it crazy how the world of social media seems to be in attack mode half the time? Keep up the good work Amy and don't worry what anyone else thinks! Thank you for reading 🙂
I definitely struggle with the comparison thing and feeling like I'm being too superficial as a Christian and fashion blogger. I think it's so cool that your husband is on board with the blog because my husband has a hard time with it! That's awesome that you can work on it as a couple!

What a great post, Katherine! I love how honest you are here and I really like how you shared the message from your pastor. It's so true. I too have thought about blogs, and my blog as well, as being a platform to help inspire others and can only hope it doesn't come off as being showy or bragging. Social media is such a catch 22, but as long as you stay true to yourself and your values, God knows your heart and where you are coming from <3 Beautifully Candid
Jessica, you are not alone! Also, if Brandon wrote something like this from the perspective of a guy, would your husband be interested in reading it?? Maybe he could shed a little light into all of the positive benefits that blogging brings.
Your comment means the world! I completely agree and find so much comfort in knowing that you (and others) are feeling the same way that I am. By serving the Lord through it all, I am confident that He is smiling! 🙂 Thank you for reading!
I love the truth and transparency in this! You guys are wonderful! And you look so beautiful!
What a great outfit! I love the embroidery on your jeans! I also love how transparent you are in this post. I definitely can see how blogging is very materialistic but I think it also inspires others to dress well and feel good about themselves!
