Transparency To Our Readers…

K: Today’s post is a little bit different from our usual. Brandon and I want to make this a true couples blog where you hear from both of us consistently; with that being said, I do run the social media aspect of our blog and am more immersed in that part of it than Brandon. Over our last few months of blogging, I’ve learned so many new things and have been able to experience an entirely new side to social media and the blogging world. I thought it might be nice to be completely transparent in my opinions, in the hopes of sharing what our true mission is with this blog and what we hope you may gain from reading it.

What Blogging Means to Me

If you’re reading this, you’re probably a lot like me. You enjoy reading blogs and enjoy fashion or style in some regard. I’ve followed blogs for years and have always been fascinated with the way that people can share their lives digitally while having a creative outlet to express their personal style. Many people could probably look at a blog and think of it as a selfish endeavor or something that is materialistic. I hope that you never look at One Swainky Couple as just a platform for “stuff.” Brandon and I do love style; however, we also love life and documenting all of the little adventures we’re having as a young married couple. We never want our blog to feel like we’re just trying to sell clothes or showcase what we have. It’s more about inspiration and our experiences in day-to-day life. Additionally, I love writing. It’s my favorite part about the blog and by creating content to share with you guys, it’s a way to hold myself accountable for writing nearly every day. Brandon enjoys the photography aspect of the blog and has already improved so much since the start of this endeavor. For the two of us, it’s a way to document our lives and hopefully share a little piece of our relationship with the world.

Our Mission Statement

As a couple, Brandon and I hope to inspire other couples and give them inspiration for their lives. As you can probably tell, we love spending time together and prioritize dates so that we can grow closer together through marriage. Our blog has so many ideas on what couples can do together, apart from just dinner and a movie. As Christians, we hope to live our lives in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord. He calls us to honor our spouses and create a relationship that is centered around Him. While Brandon and I don’t talk about our faith regularly on the blog, we need you to know that it is the backbone of our marriage. Without God, we would not be able to have the relationship that we have. Our overarching mission is to provide you with a positive source of inspiration for life and style, while giving tips and ideas for any couple.

A Note on Comparison

For a few weeks now, I’ve felt compelled to share a few truths that Brandon and I heard during church. Our pastor spoke on worldly objects and how we obviously don’t get to take them with us when we’re gone. My mind immediately flew to the material objects that many fashion bloggers have in their lives. He wasn’t insulting those who have nice things; instead, he persistently said that we shouldn’t put our concern or our worth in these items. We shouldn’t worry about them or fill our minds with thoughts on what we want or what we have. Instead, we should focus our attention on Godly things and things that enrich our lives for His glory. If I thought that the blog was only focusing on material objects, I’d stop today. However, I truly hope that our blog enriches lives and helps other couples. I truly hope that some of you find inspiration in our words and joy in our posts. I hope that you can see that we are real and transparent and love each other. If we’re modeling that and showing that on the blog, we are serving a greater purpose. We’re still very new at this and don’t pretend to be the most knowledgable about fashion or travel or any subject. But I do know that Brandon and I have a real marriage and we want to share that. We’re not comparing ourselves with other blogs or Instagram accounts out there. All that to say, we want to continue to be a light and to provide ideas, help, inspiration, and tips to our readers. We care about you all and want you to know that!

I hope that you enjoyed this today! If you’d like to see more posts like this, please let me know! We want to create meaningful content for our readers and would love to know what’s meaningful to you and what you’d like to see on One Swainky Couple.
