K: Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, hands down. San Antonio doesn’t have endless options of unique breakfast restaurants, so when Brandon suggested that we head downtown to The Guenther House for brunch, I obviously couldn’t say no. The Guenther House is in the King William area of San Antonio, a gorgeous historic neighborhood with preserved homes dating back as far as the 1800s. We’ve always loved exploring this little area, although we don’t get down nearly as often as we’d like. After some homemade biscuits (made from flour from the restaurant mill), we walked the residential streets, snapping pictures and admiring history.
B: Sunday, June 11th marked our six month wedding anniversary. In hopes of generating as fun of a weekend as possible, we ventured downtown for some new activities. Not being a breakfast or brunch guy myself, I settled for some iced tea and a giant cinnamon roll because I knew Katherine would be ecstatic for all those morning foods most people love. We have had a great six months of marriage, learning things about each other, going on adventures, and doing little things to always support and uplift each other every single day.
B: As you know, Nordstrom recently had its half yearly sale. This was the first time I have partook in the experience. I loved it. I scoured page after page of trimmed fit short sleeved shirts with geometric patterns, only to scour page after page of extra trim fit short sleeved shirts with floral patterns. The deals were amazing, and I came out of the sale with several new long and short sleeved shirts. Katherine suggested that I started wearing short sleeved button down shirts a few months past. I reluctantly obliged, with a long term stigma thinking they were just loose fitting squares of material similar in regards to a spinnaker sail. I was wrong. The hipster scene has definitely made its mark on trim and extra trim cuts, making these functioning assemblages of color, double stitching, and breathable threads seemingly wearable artistry crafts. To say the least, I am excited I was persuaded to exceed my comfort zone with short sleeved button down shirts. The results are beneficial in our Southern Texas heat, and we cannot wait to show you our prints and patterns in coming posts.
K: I couldn’t wait to wear this backless dress from Altar’d State. I first spoke about this Christian clothing store here when we visited the lavender farm. Once again, they delivered. As per Friday’s post, I mentioned how I think off the shoulder is soon to be replaced by backless or low back tops and dresses. Personally, I’ve always had a soft spot for backless anything (proof is right here in my wedding dress) and when I saw this sage green lace dress, I knew it was meant to be. What are your thoughts on backless items? Do you prefer off the shoulder instead?
K: With the first day of summer officially beginning next week, we thought it would be an appropriate time to launch our “Summer Shop” page. For all the ladies out there, I’ve put together a little gallery of my favorite items for this summer with everything from clothing to jewelry to home accessories. You can check it out here and be sure to come back and watch as products update with the season. We’d love to know if you guys would enjoy seeing a guy’s shop as well. If so, please leave a comment below so Brandon can get to work pulling his favorite summer items 😉
